EWHC, NOA collaborate on value, democracy enlightenment campaign

Every Woman Hope Centre (EWHC), a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Abuja has paid a collaboration visit to the Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Speaking at the occasion, Founder/Executive Director EWHC, Mrs Edel-Quinn Agbaegbu expressed satisfaction with what she described as a brand new wave at the National Orientation Agency being championed by the director -general and shared her optimism that the new energy, visibility and grassroots campaign driven by Issa-Onilu will bear positive fruits and rub off on the nation.
“We have noticed the incredible turn-around of the NOA under your leadership, manifesting in many critical and strategic enlightenment messages. This has become the impressive lot of NOA recently”.
Addressing the directors of the agency while enunciating her collaborative vision, Mrs Agbaegbu noted that while NOA is a federal government agency with all it’s network at national and sub-national levels, it can’t do it all alone and elected to compliment its work at the grassroots level.
She listed some works done by EWHC both national and international emphasizing that the voices of women and their visibility in the affairs of the country cannot be over-looked. She further stated that her organization tries to amplify the voice of Nigerian women.
She said the aim is to mobilize strategic plans and actions for public awareness on relevant issues and youth engagement.  “To offer them opportunities for effective participation and contribution in policy making and leadership in Nigeria.
“Our engagement is an advocacy and capacity-building initiative, that will enhance greater learning for youths from various backgrounds, positions, and skills in Nigeria, including the physically challenged.
” We intend to drive innovation, build connections and open doors for youths’ integration and mobilization in promoting good governance in diverse roles, especially to women, the indigenous people and the local communities.
” EWHC is a non-governmental organization (NGO), with strength in advocacy on diverse areas including; gender and youth development, improved health and food systems, sustainable environment, as well as good governance.
“We are interested in promoting relevant policies, especially in areas related to youth and human capital development, in line with global practices. We shall leverage on our expertise and experience derived from our participation in a number of global engagements, under the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity of United Nations Environment Programme.
A typical example is the Uganda National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan Peer Review process, where the Founder of EWHC served as one of the expert in the review team”, she submitted.
In her response, the Director, Civil Value and Democracy Education, Dr Olukemi Afolayan who led other seven directors to represent the director -general, Malam Issa-Onilu thanked Mrs Agbaegbu and her team for the vision and efforts at collaborating with NOA to achieve its mandate.
She noted that the mandate of the agency aligns with that of Every Woman Hope Centre and encouraged the NGO to join in the task of building the nation. She assured that NOA is ready to partner with EWHC as the agency is moving alongside the dictates of the time.
“We will look how we can partner with you so that we can move Nigeria forward. Our grassroots connection is top-notch and highly visible.
We shall pick the departments that align with your centre to knock out the areas of collaboration so that at the end of the day, we can achieve a stronger mileage.”
Directors present at the occasion includes, Dr. Olukemi Afolayan, Director Civic, Values and Democracy Education who represented the director -general, Bala Musa, Director, Communications and Media, Barr. Tessy Nnanuwe, Director, Community Safety Awareness and Compliance. Others are Director,Youth Engagement and Inclusion, Director, Community Outrage and Enablement,  Director, Abused Rights and Director PRS.
Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of NOA charter to EWHC by Dr Afolayan as well as the presentation of EWHC articulated collaboration manual to NOA by Mrs Agbaegbu.
