Erosion Threat: UNIBEN Promises To Assist Edo NUJ

The Management of University of Benin (UNIBEN) has promised to assist Nigeria union of Journalists (NUJ Edo state Council in reclaiming part of its land under erosion threat.
The Vice-chancellor of the University, Prof. Faraday Orumwense disclosed this during a parley with the Media parley at the Weekend in Benin City.
He also disclosed plans to give a face lift to the library complex and landscape a cross session of the floor at NUJ Secretariat.
Orumwense, directed a team of Surveyors and Engineers from the ivory tower led by the Director of Works led by Engr. Wilfred Irogue to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the union’s Secretariat and report back to the Management for consideration.
The gesture was in response to a formal request by Edo state Chairman of NUJ, Sir Roland Osakue to adopt the project as part of the University’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
“We will send our Surveyors and Engineers to come in there and advice Management on what to do.
“We commend you support and prompt response this administration has received from Media especially during the recent rainstorm disaster that affected some buildings in this Institution”, he said.
The VC lauded the cordial relationship between the Media the University since he became the helmsman of the Institution which he said parade
The Deputy Vice-chancellor, Administration, Prof. Jacob Ehiorobo also addressed other issues bothering of students’ welfare and other issues of concern at the interactive session where Journalists were entertained.
