Equity Assurance explains late submission of audited results

Equity Assurance plc has notified the investing public that it will not be able to submit its first quarter 2016 accounts for the period ended March 31, to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), within the prescribed time.

A statement released by Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on behalf of the company signed by Mr. John Akujieze, company’s secretary, said “the filing of the first quarter result was premised on the approval of the company’s consolidated financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2016 by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and it is yet to be approved”

The statement said that given the board’s commitment, the company remains optimistic that its first quarter accounts for the period ended 31st March 2017, will be filed with the NSE on or before June 30th 2017.

Daily Times recalls that the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) via a letter dated 20th December, 2016 granted provisional approval for the appointment of Mr. Morufu Olakunle Apampa, as the Managing Director/CEO Equity Assurance Plc.

The approval was secured following the resignation of Mr. Ekpe Ukpabio as Managing Director/CEO, Equity Assurance Plc effective 30th Nov, 2016, and subsequent appointment of Mr. Morufu Olakunle Apampa as the Managing Director/CEO.
