Enugu legislative funds management bill scales first reading
Enugu State legislative funds management bill Thursday scaled through first reading. The bill which was private member bill was sponsored by the Leader of the House, Hon. Ikechukwu Ezeugwu.
Explaining the merit of the Bill, Ezeugwu said that the essence of the bill was to enable the Enugu State House Assembly to manage its capital and recurrent expenditures without interference from any quarters.
He also explained that the clerk of the assembly would be the accounting officer according to the provisions of the bill.
Ezeugwu further explained that the bill would in due course be introduced in the house for enactment and be published so that any person who had any comment in any of the provisions may summit same to the clerk of the house.
Commenting on the Bill, the Speaker of the House, Chief Edward Ubosi urged his colleagues to find time and study the bill to ensure robust debate.
