Eng. Adesewo Sopade steady rise!

If there is any businessman and a well-known society elite who could be termed as “Mr. Consistency” that title should go to no other person than the Managing Director (M.D) of De sopas Engineering Company, Eng. Adesewo Sopade whose passion for his engineering business has no limit.

“ I am a very creative person, I like discovering things may be that is why I am engineer’ Eng. Sopade tells Daily Times in his imposing workshop where he also used as his office at Sewo Sopade, Street, off Salami Kasumu in Abesan Estate, Mosan Lagos
Then he goes down memory lane on how it all started

“I was employed as a blacksmith Grade 3 by the Federal Ministry of Works at Ijora on a salary of N75.00 per month on the 3rd of May 1976.

This dream came true, three months later when I got a shop in Bariga and in 1979 one night I was watching an NTA Channel 10 programme “Drop a line” anchored by Taiwo Obileye and the guest was Chief Adebowale (an industrialist). He was asked Why in Nigeria, there was no fridge with a Nigerian name? Chief Adebowale answered that there was Debo fridge. There and then I got the inspiration to call my Gas Cooker –Sewo Brand. In the first week of March 1982, I started the Gas Cooker rental services. I employed more production staff. We equally produced ovens which were of high standard. We soon discovered that the workshop was inadequate. By 1983, God has provided me with a house in Mosan, Off Ipaja Agege Road. In 1984, when I wanted to register my business.

In 1990, I established the out-door catering services to complement my Gas Cooker rental business.”

On how he relaxed the very socialites young man who is a chore member of Floco Club Abesan, Estate Ipaja a club that have the respected personality like Femi Ogunbamero a Guinness contractor who was an ex international footballer with Nigeria football national team said he do relax at every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at their club house.

“I do go to my club house to relax after a day job especially on weekend stating from Wednesday.”
