Enemies Within Sponsored Fake News Campaign Against NNPC Leadership – Group
A group of stakeholders in the nation’s petroleum industry has debunked fake stories being peddled against the person of the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Bayo Bashir Ojulari, and the leadership of the Company.
The group ascribed the series of sponsored fake news against to enemies within that want to distract Ojulari from achieving the mandate given to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reshape and refocus the nation’s flagship oil company.
In a statement on Sunday, the group said “Reports alleging that the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Bayo Bashir Ojulari, chartered private jets for a trip to Brazil are false, malicious, and part of a growing pattern of coordinated misinformation.
“Reliable sources in Abuja confirm that the GCEO remains in the capital, fully engaged at work preparing for week of high level meetings and events dedicated to delivering on President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to grow oil and gas production, guarantee energy security, and enhance Nigeria’s investment attractiveness.
“The latest falsehood is not an isolated incident. It bears the same hallmarks as earlier fabrications about the NNPC Board’s retreat in Kigali where detractors deliberately twisted facts about the purpose of the meeting and exaggerated claims about the number of aircraft used. In spite of the distractions, the retreat delivered critical outcomes, including a rigorous assessment of NNPC Limited and a strategic roadmap for execution.
“According to insiders, the orchestrated spread of such fabrications points to “enemies within” individuals at senior levels of the organisation who continue to collaborate with external actors to undermine the President’s energy reform agenda. Their method: planting lies, mischaracterising legitimate processes, and attempting to distract management from its core mission.
“Despite these smear attempts, the management and leadership of NNPC Limited continue to focus on its mandate to drive production growth, safeguard energy security, and strengthen
investor confidence in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.”
