How to end to quackery in real estate – ERCAAN
To erradicate quackery in the real estate sector in Nigeria, The Estate, Rent, and Commission Agents Association of Nigeria (ERCAAN), has warned those who have no genuine intention for the profession to stay clear of the practice rather than continuing to constitute a menace to its growth.
This is just as the association called on the Federal Government to review the Land Use Act since this would help to improve real estate business in Lagos and Nigeria at large
The association made the call at the Lagos State Chapter’s 21 Annual Conference, 2017, with the theme: celebrating the 50 years of real estate business in Lagos State, held in Ikeja, Lagos, recently.
According to the Lagos State Chairman of the association, Godwin Alenkhe ‘the real estate environment is now polluted with all sort of people, who lacked basic training and knowledge of the profession, saying that the time has come for the association to find a lasting solution to the issue.
Alenkhe stated further that ERCAAN totally agrees with government policies by encouraging members to obtain real estate business licenses, establish offices and go for regular training to update their skills professionally to beat par with global best practices.
Also speaking at the conference, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), United Auction House Limited, Dr. Jogun Onabanjo, while analysing the impact of the auctioneering on real estate business, said training an auctioneer would help those who are into real estate business to sell more property.
He also appealed to the Lagos State Government to, a sa matter of urgency adopt the statutory law of real estate as it was established in the Lagos State Agency Authority and all other matters.
It would be recalled that ERCAAN was set up to tackle the menace of quackery in the real estate sector of the country, which has militated against the growth of the sector.
