Emulate senior lawyers of note, Mrs. Ikpeazu charges student lawyers
Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has charged student lawyers to emulate other senior lawyers who have made impacts in the world.
The wife of the Abia State Governor gave the charge in Umuahia during the annual 2017 Law Dinner of Faculty of Law, Abia State University, Uturu, stating that expectations were rife for the students, especially those who were due for Law School to perform well, knowing well that real assessment of a lawyer is not just in his classroom performance but in the social field.
Mrs. Ikpeazu, who was represented by her Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Eze Ajuzie, said they were expected to be of good character, stressing that good manners are capable of opening doors which education may not be able to do.
According to her, soon, the relocation of the Law Faculty to Umuahia would be justified by the quality and number of lawyers the school would be graduating and commended the Dean, Faculty Law and the entire university management for availing their students that opportunity to participate in the dinner.
Speaking also, the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Engr Emma Nwabuko, informed the students that Abia State government means well for them, disclosing that government has made arrangements to bring all Faculty of Law to Umuahia to enable them learn together and urged them to study hard and maintain the leadership position of ABSU Law students at the Nigeria Law Schools in the country.
Earlier in his remarks, the Dean, Faculty of Law, ABSU, Professor Sam Erugo, stated that Law dinner was an annual event in which lawyers, who aspire to be called to bar come together to learn certain things including table manners and etiquette from senior lawyers to enable them grow accordingly in their profession and urged the students to join their role models in the field.
Also speaking, Chairman of the occasion, Barrister E Awulonu, described law dinner is a serious business where bigwigs in Law are invited to encourage the upcoming ones and enjoined them to make good use of the opportunity.
