Emmanuel Amuneke gets CAF U-20 AFCON technical study group role
Tanzania coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has been handed a CAF Technical Study Group (TSG) role by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Amuneke led Nigeria’s U-17s to trophy-success at FIFA U-17 World Cup – Chile 2015, and has performed similar TSG role for the World Football governing body, FIFA, during the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
“I’m going to Niamey, Niger Republic, for the U-20 Nations Cup”, the former FC Barcelona winger newsmen.
“Tanzania is not participating in the U20 AFCON. I’m going as a CAF Technical Study Group member.
“Yes, CAF has appointed me as a member of their TSG and that’s why I’m traveling (to Niger).”
Amuneke’s coaching profile has continued to soar after an illustrious playing career that spanned through Julius Berger of Lagos, Zamalek of Egypt and FC Barcelona of Spain, amongst other top clubs.
As a coach, Amuneke has had managerial spells with the Nigeria U-17 team winning the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile.
He later had unsuccessful spell with Nigeria U-20s during which the team failed to qualify for the 2017 CAF U-20 Nations Cup finals, as well as transit managerial duty as assistant Super Eagles coach under Samson Siasia.
Before landing the top Tanzanian national teams job, Amuneke had coached Sudanese Premier League club, Al-Khartoum Watani, in 2018.
