Emir cautions parents against overlooking children’s education
The Emir of Dambam in Bauchi state, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Idris Baffa Musa Sulaiman has cautioned parents and guardians against disregarding the education needs of their children.
The monarch while speaking to reporters yesterday, tasked parents and guardians not to neglect, but prioritize the education of their children, describing education as foundation for moral discipline, social stability and sustainable development.
He specifically urged parents to ensure that their children are enrolled in both Western and Islamic schools, warning that neglecting education often leads to moral decline, exposing young people to negative influences later in life.
The monarch insisted that education remains the most effective tool for shaping character, building responsible citizens and securing a brighter future for the emirate, stressing that children who are properly educated are better equipped to contribute positively in the society and resist social vices that threaten peace and development.
He further noted that the responsibility of promoting education should not rest on parents alone, but must be shared by traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders.
The emir said the promotion of education is a collective duty for leaders at all levels who are expected to closely monitor the condition of their communities and ensure that education and good morals are upheld.
He encouraged youths in the emirate to take their studies seriously, describing knowledge as a lifelong asset that empowers individuals, strengthens leadership capacity and enhances self-reliance.
The royal father reaffirmed the readiness of the Dambam Emirate to support initiatives aimed at advancing education and moral values among its people.
He called on the people of Dambam to intensify prayers for lasting peace, unity and stability in the local government, Bauchi state and the country as a whole, emphasizing that meaningful development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.
The Emir reiterated that any society that invests in education is investing in its future, adding that, education and peace must go hand in hand for the Dambam Emirate to achieve lasting progress.
