El-Rufai Inaugurates Transition Committee
Kaduna State Governor-elect, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) transition committee ahead of the May 29 hand-over date.
In a statement by his spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, the committee comprised experienced technocrats, politicians and other professionals.
It has, as its chair, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, a seasoned public servant and El-Rufai’s Chief of Staff, when he was Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, from 2003 to 2007.
Aruwan also said that El-Ruf’ai had replied Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero’s congratulatory letter and further met the governor, in the spirit of moving state forward.
El-Rufai was quoted, in his reply to Yero as saying: “Permit me to most warmly acknowledge your congratulatory message on the occasion of our victory in the gubernatorial election. I appreciate the grace of your letter and the kind words it contains. I must also put on record that we welcome the spirit behind your phone call that preceded the letter.
“Given the short window that exists between now and the handover, it is our intention to swiftly focus on matters of transition. The APC has established its own transition committee, chaired by our own Balarabe Abbas Lawal.”
Yero, in his letter, described El-Rufai’s victory as overwhelming and symbolising collective resolve of the citizenry.
