Ekwunife Mourns Anambra NUJ Scribe
Senator-elect for Anambra Central senatorial zone, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, has expressed shock over the death of the secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),Anambra Council, Princess Ifeoma Anumba.
Ekwunife, in a statement issued by her Media Assistant, Emmanuel Uzor, described the death of the young lady as very devastating, especially in her prime when the country and entire humanity needed her services most.
She described the late NUJ scribe as a very diligent and hardworking young lady, who served with joy, and prayed God to grant her eternal rest.
The statement read: “It is with a deep sense of sorrow and bewilderment that I commiserate with the family of Anumba of NawfiaCommunity and the entire members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra Council, over the death of their daughter and secretary, Lady Ifeoma Anumba.
“The death is so painful, as it is so devastating. We are always forced to relapse and only say it is well whenever we lost somebody so dear to our heart.
“I call on the NUJ members in the state to see this as a tragedy that befell all of us and not the journalists alone. We shall miss her smiling face and doggedness in the sustenance of the ethos of the noble profession in the state and, by extension, the country at large,” she expressed.
She urged media practitioners to immortalize the late Ifeoma Anumba by living up to the calling of their profession and upholding truth, which she said would further deepen democracy in the country.
