Ekiti PDP shops for dep governorship candidate, sets up c’ttee
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ekiti State Chapter, has announced a process of getting a deputy governorship candidate for next year’s election.
The party, in a statement entitled “Constitution of Committee for Selection of Deputy Governorship Candidate,” signed by it’s State Secretary, Abiodun Bankoke, and made available to journalists on Thursday, said this was done to abide by it’s constitution and the Electoral Act.
“The State Working Committee (SWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ekiti State, hereby formally constitutes a committee to oversee the process of selecting a suitable deputy governorship candidate for our great party ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
“This committee is mandated to consult widely with critical stakeholders across the three senatorial districts, screen and assess all individuals nominated or recommended for the position, and ensure compliance with the Constitution of our party, the Electoral Act, and all relevant guidelines.
“It is also to recommend the most suitable, credible, and loyal party member who possesses the required competence, political acceptability, and capacity to support our governorship candidate in delivering victory for the PDP and submit a comprehensive report of its findings and recommendations to the SWC within two weeks of receiving this mandate.
“Members of the committee are Right Honourable Tunji Odeyemi (chairman), Honourable Oke Ojo Michael (member), Senator Duro Faseyi (member), Honourable Segun Ademola (member), Honourable Wale Aribisala (member), Honourable Kehinde Odebunmi (member) and Honourable Abiodun Bankoke (secretary).
“The party trusts in your collective wisdom, integrity, and dedication to carry out this assignment in the best interest of the PDP and the good people of Ekiti State,” the statement read.
