The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Ekiti State council, has called on the government and other security agents to come to its aid, as its members were faced with assault, harassment and intimidation by some hoodlums, while performing their duties.
Speakkng at a press briefing, at the weekend, in Ado Ekiti, the chairperson of the association, Comrade (Mrs.) Adewumi Bade-Gboyega, explained that two cases of assaults and two kidnap cases were reported to the police through the association.
According to her: “A nurse Floranmi Oluyemi was beaten up by patient’s relative, while on duty at Efon Alaaye General Hospital, April 15, 2015. A similar case was also recorded at the state specialist hospital in Ikere-Ekiti.”
She said that two cases of abduction of two nurses, of whom was Ajiboye Titilope on November 30, 2014, while returning from morning shift along Ifaki/Orin Road in Ido/Osi Local Government.
