Ekiti governor dissolves cabinet in major shakeup, retains key commissioners

Biodun Oyebanji, governor of Ekiti state, has dissolved the state executive council.

The announcement was made on Sunday night in a statement posted on the state government’s official website by Habibat Adubiaro, secretary to the state government.

According to the statement, all affected commissioners and special advisers are to hand over to the permanent secretary or the most senior civil servant in their respective ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

“Governor Oyebanji thanks the affected members of the state executive council and wishes them success in their future endeavours,” it read.

The dissolution does not affect the commissioners for health and human services, agriculture and food security, education, works, trade, investment, industry and cooperatives, as well as the special advisers on special education and social inclusion, and lands, survey, and e-GIS.

Also retained are all directors-general who are members of the state executive council, including the DG of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), the DG of SDGs and Project Monitoring, and the DG of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
