Ekiti 2018: Ojudu visits US to parley with indigenes on economic recovery
All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant in Ekiti State and Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, has proceeded on a tour of the United States of America, to parley with indigenes on how to bring quick development into the economically traumatised state.
The programme which kicked off Wednesday would see Senator Ojudu holding Town Hall meetings with stakeholders in Maryland, New York, Atlanta and Houston on how to facilitate developmental projects that will bring quick economic recovery to Ekiti State.
According to the Presidential aide who is visiting America at the instance of Ekiti indigenes under the aegis of Ojudu 2018 (Diaspora – USA), the proposed meeting was aimed at providing a quick fix to the dwindling fortune of the once fledgling state.
It was gathered that Ekiti indigenes in the Diaspora have been miffed by the lingering leadership deficit in the state and the attendant hardship on the people, thus fuelling a sieve through the array of aspirants jostling in the governorship race to narrow down on Ojudu as their choice candidate.
Coordinator of the Diaspora group, Kayode Omoboya said “the choice of Ojudu came after a thorough research on all the aspirants across party lines, which places him far ahead of others in terms of commitment, comportment, creativity, connections and intellectual capability.”
Omoboya further said that Ojudu’s visit signposts a radical change in the pattern of politicking in Ekiti State, noting that “Ekiti sons and daughters in the Diaspora are united to ensure that the lost glory of the state is retraced and restored through good governance by tested and credible hands.”
Leader of the group, Tolu Olugbamila, said the Ekiti in the Diaspora and particularly those resident in the United States are poised to commit time and resources into ensuring that a people oriented leader emerged as governor of Ekiti State come July 14, 2018.
“Ojudu has paid every due that makes a credible leader. He has been the regular face we see on the side of the masses at every point the state is in leadership crisis. To us, it is payback time to a dogged and committed son of the soil in whom we are all pleased,” he said.
And as the officials of the group receive Ojudu and his team, other indigenes in the States have been taking turns to indicate their interest in committing time and resources to ensure that the Ojudu project works.
