Ekiti 2018: aspirant wants pride of place for APC Elders

As Ekiti State Governorship poll comes up  in 2018, an All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship aspirant in the state,  Hon Bamidele Faparusi has called on the party leadership to give  elders’ Forum of the party duty that will give them a pride of place in selection, and election of who becomes the next flag bearer in the state.

Faparusi who made the called when he visited the elders in furtherance of his aspiration, also  opened the issue of zoning of the governorship  ticket to the south senatorial district, which the elders described as a legitimate right.

Speaking with the elders of the party in Igbara Odo Ekiti in Ekiti South West Local Government Area of Ekiti State where the meeting was held, Faparusi begged the leaders to  help in amplifying the advocacy for zoning to make it sink deeper into the minds of the party leaders , both at the state and national levels.

The former lawmaker who promised to develop the state if elected declared that “I have passion to develop Ekiti . Though, we might not have oil, but we have brains which we can deploy like Finland and Israel, who rely on agriculture and technology to develop their economies.”

He however promised not to abandon them saying,  “this is the first public declaration that I would do since I started this consultation and this underscores the fact that I will never abandon you if I get there.”

Earlier while welcoming the Governorship aspirant, the Chairman of the Forum, Chief George Akosile had appealed to the aspirants  in the state to conduct themselves within the ambit of the party’s constitution by shunning  desperation and uncouth statements.

The elders who said the body won’t support any aspirant  who will win election and abandon them as  witnessed in the past, added  “Though we are elders, but we can play prominent role in government. We can be appointed based on our experiences . We don’t want any aspirant to ride on our back only to abandon us when they get there”.
