EKEDC bemoans state of power supply

The EKO Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has expressed worry over the unstable state of power supply in the country today and assured customers of efforts to improve.
The CEO of EKEDC, Oladele Amoda, stated this at a town hall meeting and stakeholder forum with Mushin region customers of EKEDC in Lagos.
Amoda, represented by Mr Sam Nwaire, the Chief Operating Officer of EKEDC, appealed to customers over the current electricity supply instability in the country, promising customers of its committed to improving electricity supply based on what it receives from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
According to him, the company is aware of electricity challenges everywhere.
“I know how you people feel and I want to tell you also that we are not also happy with the power situation but I want to assure you that we are doing all we can under the law to improve power supply to our customers.
He said that EKEDC is entitled to 11 percent of power generation from the grid but does not get adequate energy due to ongoing challenges in the power sector.
The COO said that the company has started a special arrangement with Egbin Power to buy 100 megawatts dedicated to customers without going through the national grid.
He said that the arrangement will cost those customers to pay a little more, but guarantee them stable power supply.
“Very soon, we will be taking 45MW from Paras Energy and also in discussion with Lagos State Government on how we can be buying power from them to supply our customers.
