EFCC grills NIPC Boss, Yewande Sadiku

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council, NIPC Mrs. Yewande Sadiku was taken into the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday.

The technocrat, who arrived the headquarters of the anti-graft agency at about 11am on Monday, was still being grilled by a team of operatives of the commission over wide ranging corruption allegations as at 10.20pm last night by the time of filing this report.

Sources familiar with the allegations leveled against her and the ongoing investigations stated that the NIPC boss is being questioned for abuses of her office.

Specifically, Mrs Sadiku is being probed over contract fraud running into several millions of Naira and unearned frivolous allowances.

She is likely to spend the night with her interrogators who are determined to ascertain the level of her involvement in the alleged multiple infractions. Mrs. Sadiku is said to be “cooperating with her interrogators and has volunteered statement but there is still a lot of grounds to be covered, ” one of the sources said.

Besides, it was uncertain that she would secure an administrative bail last night as day was far spent . Tuesday, August 10, 2021 The Head, Media and Publicity, EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren confirmed that she is with the commission but he declined further comment on the development.

Sadiku was appointed substantive Executive Secretary/ Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Investment Promotion Council. ,NIPC ,in September 2016 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
