Edo guber aspirant donates N7m to St. Vincent De Paul

Touched by its activities, an Edo State governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Godwin Obaseki has donated Seven Million Naira to the St. Vincent De Paul Society.

The Chairman, Edo Economic Team, who made the donation in a fund raising charity show at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre in Benin City, stressed that the donation was towards a dialysis centre and equipment in the state that will not only be for the poor but for the use of even the rich.

Obaseki, who promised to woo some business moguls to support the projects also gave starting up capital of one hundred thousand naira to some benefactors of the charity show. He said he was moved to participate in the charity show when he was told about the activities of the society, just as he was moved to donate N3 million on behalf of his family, N2.5 million on behalf of Team Godwin Obaseki, which is the Campaign Organisation, while he forfeited his flight ticket to Kenya worth N1.5 million, which he donated to the society.

“When I was told the activities of this society in the Catholic Church, I was really touched. For me, when I look around, I see those who have not been privileged in life and we owe a responsibility to them.

“One thing I admire about the Catholic Church is that it is the best institution in the world, anybody who wants to build anything that is enduring and lasting should look at how the Catholic Church operates. The level of transparency, commitment to service, and commitment to whatever they are doing is remarkable” Obaseki said.
