Edo Assembly renovates House

The Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto, has said the leadership of the House will continue to deploy resources, innovations, skills and strategies to bring about positive transformation of the Assembly Complex.
Hon. Adjoto said this on Tuesday while inspecting the on-going renovation of Mike Akhigbe Hall at the complex, said the renovation was to give the hall a facelift.
He said the former hall was in a deplorable condition and painted a negative image of the House, hence there was sacrifice on the part of the leadership of the House to address the ugly trend.
Hon. Adjoto said when the renovation work is completed, it will add value to the aesthetic beauty of the complex, and create a conducive atmosphere for Committee sittings and other businesses vital for effective law making.
The Speaker said in spite of the lean financial resources at the House disposal, other offices in the complex will be renovated in line with the vision of the present administration to engender meaningful development.
Hon. Adjoto expressed satisfaction with the quality of job done so far and enjoined handlers of the project not to derail from delivering the job on scheduled.
The Director of Works, Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Albert Ehiagwina, praised the Speaker for prudent management of scarce resources, adding that the renovation at this point of global economic recession is a manifestation’s of the Speaker’s leadership qualities.
He said the renovation of Mike Akhigbe Hall was the first of its kind, with sophisticated materials, since the construction of the Assembly Complex years ago.
The Mike Akhigbe Hall is to be fitted with communication gadgets when fully renovated to enhance smooth Committee meetings and Public Forum organised by the House.
The Speaker was accompanied on the inspection by the Majority Leader, Hon. Roland Asoro and the Clerk of the House, Mr. James Omoatama.
