EDO AGOG AS OBASEKI IS SWORN-IN

Edo State, the acclaimed Heart Beat of the nation is agog as the state Governor -elect, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Hon. Philip Shaibu take oath of office tomorrow in a grand ceremony shedulled for the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the state capital.
For the last one week traffic at the Benin Airport and the different motor parks have quadrupled according to statistics obtained from some workers at the airport and also at some of the motor parks in the city. This is on account of those coming into the city to witness the epoch event. Some indigenes of the state based overseas and people from some of the neighbouring states have been trooping in to spend the weekend in town as they join in the celebration.
Daily Times gathered that hotels in the city centre are gradually been filled with patrons who are checking in in droves. The high influx of visitors has led to a hectic traffic holdup in some major roads of the city. Transport fare has increased on some routes. For instance, a trip from the city centre, Ring Road to Agip, which hitherto was N80.00 now costs N100.00.
Meanwhile, in preparation for the grand occasion, the traditional aso ebi that is common apparel for such programme has been bought and distributed to members of different political and socio -cultural groups at prices ranging from N5000 to N10,000 per six yards. Betsy, wife of the new governor, we were reliably informed gave out such apparels free to women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the different constituencies of the state.
The Ogbemudia Stadium, meanwhile is wearing a brand new look as workers were seen beautifying the place to match up with the occasion.
As at Press time Friday November 11 decoration of the place was ongoing and the sound engineers have been working round the clock to ensure that the sound/music equipment is functional.
Top personalities, politicians, captain’s of industries, traditional rulers and diplomats are some of the high networth people expected at the inauguration.
