Edo 2020: We’ve won already, Wike brags

Governor Nyeson Wike

Executive Governor of Rivers State, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has expressed optimism that the result of the September 19 Gubernatorial election is already a foregone conclusion.

Speaking to a crowd of People Democratic Party’s supporters during a mega rally on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, the governor said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will have no choice but to announce the Governor Godwin Obaseki, the PDP’s candidate as the winner of the keenly contested poll.

He said, “What I’ve come to tell you today, by the grace of God, the election has been won by Godwin Obaseki.

“We know we have won. INEC must announce it.”

Wike enjoined party supporters to guard their votes at the polls to prevent malpractice by election officials.

“You must be vigilant. We must make sure the election is free and fair,” Wike cautioned.

Wike became allied with the PDP candidate, Godwin Obaseki when the governor defected to the party after being squeezed out by the All Progressives Congress during the primaries in favour of his opposite number, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who presents his biggest competition during the polls on Saturday which will be contested by 14 political parties.
