Ebonyi: INEC Presents Certificate to Gov-Elect, Others

The Independent Electoral Commission, Ebonyi State, has presented certificate of return to all the candidates who emerged victorious in the last Governorship and other elections held on March 28 and April 11, 2015.

Presenting the certificate to the winners, National Commissioner in-charge of Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo states, Mrs. Gladys Nwafor, urged the Governor and National Assembly members-elect not to forget the electorate who gave them their mandate, noting that without the voters they would not have been what they are.

The INEC commissioner also reminded the politicians of the need to ensure that their manifestoes and electoral promises were fulfilled to the letter stressing that a good turn deserves another. She also told them that in no distance future, they would again come canvassing for votes of the electorate.

Mrs Nwafor reminded the politicians that they had been preparing and planning for the election for the past four years and commended the security operatives for their efforts at ensuring that the process went without rancour.

Speaking on behalf of those elected, Ebonyi State Governor-elect, Engr. Dave Umahi, said they were aware of the enormous challenges they were confronted with especially in the state with regards to finances. He also said the elected officers were aware of the high expectations from the people and said they would not disappoint.

As for him, Umahi assured the people that he would keep to his campaign promises and that he would not toy with the freedom of Ebonyi people.

Those who were presented with certificates by INEC were the Governor-elect, Engr.Dave Umahi, Senators to represent Ebonyi North senatorial District, Dr Sam Egwu, Ebonyi south District, Senator Sunday Ogbuoji and that of the central senatorial District, Chief Obinna Ogba.

 

Others included House of Representative members-elect Hon Chukwuma Nwazunku

to represent Ohaukwu/Ebonyi federal constituency; Hon Ogbaga

representing Abakaliki/Izzi; Hon. Lazarus Ogbe for Ikwo/Ezza-South; Hon

Edwin Anayo for Ezza-North/Ishielu; Hon. Idu Igariwey for Afikpo

North/South; Hon Linus Okorie for Onicha/Ivo and Ohaozara federal constituencies.
