‘Dubai now a preferred destination for medical tourism’

Dubai has been described as the preferred destination in the world for medical tourism because of its accessibility, high quality standards and access to international specialists as well highly equipped, modern medical facilities.

Aysha Al Aleeli, an official of Dubai Health Experience, said that all these factors are crucial when deciding on where to go for the best medical care and treatments.

Aleeli stated this during the Dubai-Africa Partnership for Better Health Roadshow- a medical exhibition held on Thursday in Lagos, Nigeria.

According to her, it was a great opportunity to find out what Dubai has to offer with regards to Medical Tourism.

The impact and importance of this platform, the Dubai-Africa Partnership for Better Health, and what it means for Nigeria, cannot be overemphasised, she added.

Rasha Kayyal, the Senior Events Manager of Segma, the organisers of the Dubai-Africa Partnership For Better Health Roadshow, said that Dubai is not only recognised as one of the best tourist destinations in the world, it is fast becoming a recognised medical tourism hub due to its liberality.

Kayyal said that the Dubai-Africa Partnership for Better Health Roadshow was a platform that was successfully launched in March 2017 by Segma, an event organiser and management firm based in Dubai, UAE.

The roadshow, according to Kayyal, did not only bring together the top medical service providers, it also allowed attendees to engage with both the medical experts and representatives from the Dubai Health Authority.

“The wealth of information shared and the opportunities this exposure provides is exceptional. The event brings together health care providers and medical organisations from across Dubai, to visit destinations representing important and growing sources of health and medical tourism to the Emirate from around the world.

“It is geared at showcasing Dubai-based diverse health care providers, sharing information that is crucial and beneficial to those seeking specialised health care outside Nigeria and supporting the emergence of Dubai as a destination for Medical Tourism,” the organisers said.

This year, the second leg of the Dubai-Africa Health Partnership, covered East Africa with events held in Nairobi, Kenya on July 17 and Lagos, Nigeria on Thursday, July 19, 2018.

The first leg of the road show successfully covered West Africa with visits to Lagos in Nigeria and Accra around March 15– 22, 2017.

The event was held under the patronage of Dubai Health Authority (DHA) in association with Dubai Health Experience (DXH) and Emirates Airline being the Official Partner.

The medical exhibition featured 14 exhibitors and health care providers across a wide range of fields and areas of specialty; and gave attendees the opportunity to meet and engage with the healthcare providers one-on-one.

The Health Bank, Dubai and The Neuro Spinal Hospital, Dubai were part of the exhibitors. Representatives from the Dubai Health Experience were also present.
