DSS Invites Suspects As Wife Speaks On Dadiyata’s Disappearance
The Department of State Services has reopened investigations into the 2019 disappearance of Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata, and is set to invite suspects in connection with the case.
Dadiyata, a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina State, was declared missing on August 1, 2019, after gunmen reportedly abducted him from his residence in Kaduna. His whereabouts remain unknown nearly seven years later.
The development comes as Kadijah, his wife, expressed renewed concern over her husband’s disappearance.
She spoke in a video interview released on Thursday by Ambassador-designate Reno Omokri on his X handle, where he visited her residence and pledged support for her and her children.
“We pray that one day, he will come back,” Kadijah said, appealing to Nigerians to help the family determine whether he is alive or dead.
She also recalled an old social media post made in 2019 by the son of a former Kaduna State governor, which she described as hurtful.
“I felt bad about it. I can’t even explain,” she said.
Kadijah narrated that her husband was abducted on August 2, 2019, as he alighted from his car in their compound, adding that she witnessed the incident from a window.
Omokri assured the family of support and appealed to the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, to assist them with improved living conditions, relocation, education support for the children, or employment for Kadijah.
The case resurfaced recently after former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, denied any involvement in Dadiyata’s disappearance, stating that the missing lecturer was primarily critical of the Kano State government rather than Kaduna.
El-Rufai said he was unaware of Dadiyata before the abduction was reported and suggested that questions should be directed at the Kano State Government.
In response, former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, dismissed the claims as unfounded, insisting the incident occurred in Kaduna and should not be linked to him.
A security source disclosed that the DSS recently seized El-Rufai’s passport at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, as investigations continue.
The source added that the Service has reopened the case and may invite El-Rufai’s sons for questioning over the disappearance.
