DPR shut 6 filling stations in Ogun
The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), on Thursday, sealed-off not less than six filling stations selling fuel above official price in Ogun state.
DPR, who carried out the acts in conjunction with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC also sealed those hoarding the product.
Some of the affected stations include Amour Petroleum, Saquad Oil, Rab Engineering, Arolat, SAF petroleum and Muyad Nigeria Ltd.
Though the officials of the DPR declined comment, the head of the delegation, Mr. Mohammed Umar noted that the exercise is a usual routine.
Speaking with journalists however, Mr. Kareem Olanrewaju, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NSCDC said the exercise was borne out of the several tip-off and outcry by members of the public.
He confirmed the closure of the affected filling stations and said that reopening it is subject to compliance by the management of the stations.
He said the team had visited no fewer than 15 filling stations and six were sealed, just as two of them were compelled to dispense freely to motorists and residents.
