Dozens of people are feared dead after a fire swept through a slipper factory in the Philippine capital Manila, local officials have said.

But fire officials fighting the blaze found only charred bodies inside.
The blaze is thought to have been started by sparks from welding work near the building’s entrance.

One of those who survived, a worker named Emma, said only those working on the ground floor of the two-storey building were able to escape.
