Don’t waste your votes on undeserving legislators in future elections – IPAC

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has urged the electorate not to waste their mandate on legislators pursuing personal interest instead of advancing the collective will of the people.
The Yobe state chairman IPAC, Alhaji Umar Kukuri, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu on Wednesday that Nigerians should learn lessons from recent happenings and take wise decisions during future elections.
“It is very sad to see legislators dissipating resources, time and energy on very trivial matters without recourse to the plights of Nigerians.
“They will come again in 2019. You should use your votes against poor representatives, who, rather than promoting your plight, promoted their ego.
“Egocentrism and personality conflict, rather than service delivery, has dominated deliberations at the National Assembly, to the detriment of the electorates.
“Nigeria as a country has very pressing problems that need the support of all stakeholders in proffering solutions that would improve the lives of the common man,” he said.
According to Kukuri, in developed democracies, legislators are always concerned with issues bordering on the welfare of their electorate, and not personal interests.
He described as unnecessary, the controversy over ‘wearing of uniform’ by the Customs Comptroller-General, Hameed Ali.
