Don’t resort to self help, APC LG Chair tells PDP in Plateau Council tussle

By Chijioke Kingsley

The resort to self-help by Hon. Joshua Ubandoma and his supporters the PDP, by destroying part of the main gate leading to Langtang North Local Government Area is an act of criminality; and if Ubandoma is being prosecuted for it, then he should deal with it, the APC embattled Chairman, Langtang North LGA, Barr. Zulfa Rimven has said.

Rimven said in law, the maxim is “Ignorantia Legis Noninem Excusat” meaning ‘Ignorance of the law is not an excuse’.

According to him: “No matter the beauty of the judgment obtained, it is not a license for one to exhibit his village rascality on public property. The Law Enforcement Agencies will always be there to ensure such attitude is curtailed”.

Rimven who spoke to newsmen in Jos Tuesday, said he is the only recognise Chairman of the LGA calling on the PDP Ubandoma to follow the due process of the law.

He described the Judgement obtained by Hon. Ubandoma as miscarriage of justice, adding that the judgment is neither here nor there.

It would be recalled that a high court sitting in Jos ruled that the Plateau State Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), shouldn’t have conducted Local Government Election in Langtang North LGA.

Receiving the judgement however, Ubandoma mobilised and forcefully occupied the LGA Council complex, an act that would have triggered bloodshed if not for the intervention of the Police.

Rimven said however, he has appealed the judgement, advising Ubandoma to allow the law to take its course.

“I am still the Chairman of Langtang North and even the former Chairman Ubandoma knows that. I followed the process.

An election was conducted In my council in which I won landslide. I was issued a certificate by the electoral empire PLASIEC, and was sworn in by the Executive arm”, Rimven said.
