Don calls for implementation of 2014 Constitutional Reform

The Federal Government has been urged to implement the recommendations of the 2014 Constitutional Conference as panacea for lasting peace in the country.

Prof. Ken Nwogu, the former Dean, Faculty of Law, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Awka.

Nwogu said that in the quest for lasting peace, it would be important to re-visit the recommendations of the 2014 national conference, which he recalled was put together by all the regions of the country.

“It will be wrong to throw away the baby and the bath water simply because it was done by the previous administration as there are many resolutions in it that report that can cool tempers,” he said.

Nwogu, who is the university orator, said that in a society with no equity and justice, the 2014 conference report if implemented could address many issues.

“There is need for equity and justice to be the watchword of our leaders at all levels.

“By so doing, all agitations of the different sections of the country will be a thing of the past and all these are contained in the report,” he said.
