Dogara’s appointment timely, meritorious – Rep member

Political heavyweights and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro (DTB) federal constituency, including the current representative, Hon Jafaru Gambo Leko have described the recent appointment of former speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to serve in this administration as timely, well deserved and meritorious.

The stakeholders who commended the president for appointing Dogara as as Board chairman of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC), said that the development reaffirms their testimony that Rt. Hon. Dogara has remained steadfast with his Party APC, Stakeholders and his constituents.

According to the stakeholders, the former speaker is never let out in any contribution to promote the Party and its progressive Agenda.

“He is never wavering in his commitment and has remained as pillars of support and providing mentorship, guidance positive direction in our Constituency, Bauchi State and the Country at large”, the statement jointly signed by Hon. Jafaru Gambo Leko, Member, House of Reps. Dass, Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro Federal Constituency,
Hon. Abdulrashid A. Mu’azu, member representing Lere/Bula Constituency in Bauchi State House of Assembly,
⁠Barr. Rabiu Garba, State Legal Adviser, APC Bauchi State, among others bigwigs of the APC said.

The stakeholders who congratulated the former speaker and commended him for his unwavering commitment to the development of the APC, said he had during his reign as speaker of the 8th National Assembly, ensured peace among all the members which resulted to numerious achievements in Nigeria.

The stakeholders said Dogara’s leadership of the House of Representatives set unprecedented records of achievements in Nigeria’s legislative and political history since the 1960 independence.

The statement mentioned some of the notable achievements to include the passage of 300 bills, 1,000 resolutions touching many aspects of Nigeria’s national life were considered and passed, while hundreds of public petitions from ordinary Nigerians were treated and addressed.

“Outstanding among these are the North East Development Commission, Petroleum Industry Governance Bill, Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission Bill to mention a few”, the stakeholders noted.

“Though by convention, presiding officers do not sponsor bill or motions, Rt. Hon. Dogara waved it aside and personally sponsored more than 10 Bills and became the first speaker to sponsor a motion on the floor of the House in addition to his advocacy on Independence of the Local Government from the claws of the states”, the statement further recalled.

The stakeholders called on the former speaker to maintain his commitment to the service of humanity, continuous assistance to all people and resilience in pursuing developmental goals for the benefit of the society.

While describing Dogara as a naturally born-leader whose sterling qualities are exceptional, the stakeholders said the former speaker grew steadily through hard work, discipline, prudence, fear of God, honesty and can best be described as a bastion of hope, courage, and an epitome of humility to all around him.

They expressed optimisms that Rt Hon Dogara’s leadership in the NCGC Board will no doubt bring credibility, strategic direction, and impact to the laudable initiative of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The stakeholders further reaffirmed commitment to rally behind President Tinubu and the APC National Chairman with greater support and enthusiasm come 2027, promising continues prayers for Nigeria and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to succeed.

According to them, the recent appointment of the former speaker by President Tinubu is a clear indication of his administration’s responsiveness to the aspirations of the Nigerian people, by ensuring that key positions are filled by capable individuals who can deliver efficiently amidst all challenges at critical times.

“The appointment will not only enhance the effectiveness of governance but also serve to unite the country in the face of challenges that require collective action because of his wisdom and capacity. We remain grateful”, the stakeholders disclosed.

The statement which commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to fairness and inclusivity in the appointment, pledged to support his initiatives that promote equitable representation and foster national unity in order to build a stronger, more united Nigeria.
