Djobo eyes CHAN 2016 glory
Côte d’Ivoire winger Atcho Djobo is confident they can go all the way at the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN). For their third appearance at the continental tournament, the Elephants finished second in their Group A behind hosts Rwanda before thrashing Cameroun 3-0 in the quarterfinals.
And while they vow not to underestimate next opponents Mali, they are determined to win their last-four battles with the Eagles in Kigali today. “Côte d’Ivoire are mentally strong, and there is a lot of solidarity within the team,” Atcho Djobo told reporters. “It is going to be a very tough game as Mali have a great team. Many of their players come from the Jean-Marc Guillou Academy and are from Ivoirian origin.
“But we have our qualities and we will do everything to get past them. We respect our opponents, but we remain confident. “In all competitions, we are eyeing the trophy. So we will go all the way, and I think we will make it with the good atmosphere around the squad.” Côte d’Ivoire and Mali will face each other for a final berth at Nyamirambo Stadium in Kigali today.
