District, Chiefdom Creation: Fintiri fires back at critics, labels opponent’s spokesman a “serial loser”
By Tom Garba
Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has responded to critics of his administration’s decision to create new districts and chiefdoms, saying it’s not their business how the traditional institutions are structured.
Speaking at the 2024 PDP stakeholders meeting, Fintiri emphasized that the reform is aimed at covering ungoverned spaces and bringing government closer to the people.
He assured that his administration will fund the new districts and chiefdoms, and that no traditional ruler will be removed.
The governor also took a swipe at his critics, saying a “serial loser” has been their spokesman. He reiterated that he is not a military dictator and will do what his people want him to do, regardless of whose interests are affected. The Governor promised to empower the youth and elders in 2025, and provide purposeful leadership that listens and works.

Despite the opposition’s criticism, Fintiri said his administration has delivered on its campaign promises and budget, and will give extra service in 2025. He noted that other parties are in disarray, trying to reconcile their differences, while the PDP is talking to many of them and they are joining the party. Fintiri expressed optimism that 2025 will be a better year, with peace and improved security in the state.
He warned that he will not play politics in 2025, and will focus on working for the people, not gimmicks.
