Dilapidated court rooms attract Gov. Ikpeazu’s attention

In view of the dilapidated nature of some state institutions, particularly the courts in the state, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State says plans are underway by the his administration to renovate court rooms and schools infrastructure in the state in the coming months.
Ikpeazu disclosed this when he received in audience at the Government House, Umuahia, a delegation of the Magistrates Association of Nigeria, Abia State, who called on him, stating: “The process of renovating court rooms is receiving attention. In the next 3 months something will be done”.
The state governor said that with the dry season window coming to an end, attention will shift to other areas.
“During the coming months, we will face other areas such as school infrastructure and court buildings. By the end of 2017, the story of dilapidated court buildings will be a thing of the past”, he said, assuring that his administration is working hard to come up solutions to the car problem confronting the magistrates even as he said that the issue is not peculiar to the judiciary but promised to look into the issue of their withdrawn allowances.
Earlier, leader of the delegation and the Chief Registrar of Abia State Judiciary, Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Chukwu, thanked the Governor for the support the judiciary enjoys under him and for giving approval for renovation work on court rooms in the state and pleaded with him to address their challenges including lack of vehicles and deductions from their salaries.
Speaking also, Chairman of the association, Chief Magistrate Obia Ngozi, thanked the Governor for being judiciary friendly and urged him to extend his hands of fellowship to magistrates in the state.
