As part of its efforts to recover properties and other assets allegedly looted by Mr. Kolawale Akanni Aluko, an accomplice of the former Petroleum Minister Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has intensified efforts to secure the permanent forfeiture of properties and other assets linked to him.
A top source close to the EFCC disclosed this development to the Daily Times last night. The source said that already, a house situated at number 32, Groove end Road, London, Nw89L1, UK, Flat D.O3.01, no.1hyde park, and 100 knights bridge, SW1Z 7U, UK has already been forfeited.
Also, the source disclosed that properties situated at 4100 Le Reis, Dubai, Mania, UAE and Via magio 6, Montagnola,6926, Switzerland, allegedly belonging to Aluko has been forfeited The source added that another property allegedly linked to Aluko located at Villa Floridiana, via 17, 6948 Porza Lugana, Switzerland has also been forfeited.
A Nigerian court had on June 26 ordered the temporary forfeiture of most of the assets which are located in the United States and Switzerland. Aluko is said to possess dual citizenship of Nigeria and US, a fact that further complicates the assets forfeiture process.
Aluko’s worth is modestly estimated at well over $100 millions. He allegedly bought up properties in Las Vegas and other top spots worth millions of dollars. His wealth was alleged to have been stolen from Nigeria’s oil sector and runs into billions of dollars.
