Diamond Bank Shooting: OPSH arrests soldiers

The soldiers who shot and killed a security guard and left two others injured at Diamond Bank in Jos on October 22, have been arrested and detained by the Special Task Force (STF), in Plateau, code named Operation Safe Haven (OPSH).

“The culprits have been identified, apprehended and currently under detention and will be subjected to undergo constituted military justice procedure”, Agundu said.
The statement which further condemned the act of the erring personnel of the Nigerian Army, also said the Command has extended its sympathy to the family of the deceased, the management of Daimond Bank as well as the families of the injured staff.
“May I once more reiterate that the actions of these soldiers are in total variance with our code of conduct as well as the Rules of Engagement of the OPSH”.
The OPSH boss pledges that his Command will continue to work tirelessly to improve civil-military relationships just as it implore well meaning Nigerians to join hands with the Command in the search of enduring peace on the Plateau.
It would be recalled that on 22 October 2018 at about 3:00pm at Diamond Bank along Ahmadu Bello Way in Jos, an incident involving some soldiers who went to transact personal business at the Bank led to a tensed exchange of vituperations between some soldiers and the bank’s security guards resulting into some shots that led to the death of Mr. Linus Edogwu (a security guard) and two others who sustained gunshot wounds.
