Detained BSM leader begs Benin monarch over unauthorized use of photograph

Detained President, Benin Solidarity Movement, (BSM), a social cultural organisation, Comrade Curtis Ugbo weekend appealed to his Royal Majesty, the Oba of Benin Kingdom, Oba Ewuare II for using the photograph of the revered monarch on their letter headed paper without his permission.

It would be recalled that Curtis Ugbo and Odion Olaye were last Friday arraigned at an Oredo Magistrate Court by the Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu, on a two~ count charge of alleged felony and threat to use the militant wing of the group(BSM) to launch an attack on Oil producing communities operating in Edo state all within the territory of Nigeria.

Members of BSM had penultimate week led a peaceful protest to Nigeria Petroleum Development Corporation (NPDC) office along Sapele road in Benin City demanding the Corporation to among others employed 1000 youths within two weeks.

In a signed statement by the Head,media and Publicity, Marxist Kola Edokpayi and Comrade Hope Enogieru, however stated that their action and agitation was inform by their love for the Benin and to help many youths to gain employment.

” We appeal to our Royal father to please forgive us for our ignorance and temper Justice with mercy. We forever remain your subject.

“Our action is based on the love we have for our people towards seeking ways to help many of our unemployment youths to nip crime in the bud.

While reinstating their support to Governor Godwin Obaseki’s led administration also pledged to work with all security agencies to achieved 100 percent crime free Edo State.

“The cardinal objective of this group is to consciencetize the Benin people with their rights. The BSM has no intention, means to cause anybody,individuals, institution or facilities in the state or beyond.
