Delta Police target hotels, brothels for alleged criminal act, child prostitution

The Delta Police Command in its determination to rid the state of all forms of criminal activities may have commenced investigations into various hotels, brothels across the state on suspected criminal activities including alleged child prostitution.
Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, the State Commissioner of Police who made this known to journalists at the weekend, said the efforts of the police are to ensure it uncover criminal activities at various allegedly perpetrated at various hotels, brothels, especially child prostitution, adding: “we will leave no stones un-turned to ensure all forms of criminal activities to the state become history”.
Investigation revealed that child prostitution among others boom at various brothels, especially in Asaba; a situation the Police Boss, said would be brought to book, adding: “this is not good for the security of this state, night clubs most times are where you can find some of the criminals, and the police will fish them out, I am glad that crimes have reduced considerably in the state, but we are not relenting, we will continue to do our best”.
While warning criminals to relocate as it would no longer be business as usual, the police boss called on Deltans to always provide the police with useful information about suspicious persons within their areas, adding the police will continue to protect the lives, and property of Deltans.
Meanwhile, a middle aged tipper loader identified as Efe (surname withheld) in Otor-Iyede, Isoko North Local Government Area of the state at the weekend allegedly committed suicide after he was said to have been tilted by lover girlfriend, a mother of two children.
It was reliably gathered that the deceased corpse was found in his one-bedroom apartment after he allegedly confided in some friends/neighbours of his “evil intentions”.
He was said to have allegedly failed to perform his “conjugal duty” with the woman; a situation he was deserted and exposed before the bubble burst.
But Police Officers at Ozoro Police Division who did not want their names in the print, confirmed investigation was ongoing to ascertain the real reason to his alleged suicide.
Also, two persons have been declared missing in Ovre-Eku community, while one other arrested following the alleged invasion by security operatives attached to an oil producing company, PRESCO Oil operating in the area.
But PRESCO Public Affairs Manager, Tony Uwajeh, in a swift reaction, told journalists that the allegation was untrue, and absolved the company from any form of invasion of the community.
It would be recalled that PRESCO Oil, and the Ovre-Eku community have been in battle ground of claims, counterclaims as property worth millions of naira were allegedly destroyed, and a 20 months old baby, David Atori was found by a combined security agents, and vigilante operatives.
According to the public Affairs Manager of the company; “how do they know if these individuals are from PRESCO? I am not aware of any of such thing to the best of my knowledge, and there is nothing of such, the only issue we have noticed in the area is the usual false alarm being raised by the local people from time to time”.
In another development, a 20 year old student, Obogu Elovwoke of the Ozoro Polytechnic has been reportedly said to have died after he was sued to have rushed by his friend (name withheld) to a nearly hospital in Abraka at the weekend.
Obogu, a native of Orogun in Ughelli Local Government Area of the state was said to have been found unconscious, and alleged faced the ground at his friend’s residence in Umono Street, Abraka where he had gone for a visit.
It was gathered that he was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by medical officials on arrival.
But the Police at the Ozoro Police Division who did not want their names in the print, confirmed the family of the deceased had suspect a foul play, and had reported a case of alleged murder, adding investigation was ongoing
Nosa Akenzua, Asaba
