Delta Election Petitions Tribunal begins sitting today

The Delta state governorship, National Assembly and state House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal will today (Monday) commence hearing of petitions filed before it.

The court has also granted order for the inspection of the materials for the March 23 governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.

The tribunal secretary, Ahmed Gusau, who disclosed this to journalists in Asaba on Sunday, said that the court would commence preliminary sitting today (Monday), adding that the tribunal had granted applications for substitute Service on respondents in the petitions filed by Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Doris Uboh, Sebastian Okoh, Monday Igbuya, Mariere Ogaga and John Agoda.

He said that one petition was filed against Governor Ifeanyi Okowa by Great Ogboru of the All Progressive Congress (APC), one against Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, two against Senator James Manager and one against Senator Ovie Omo –Agege, adding that nine petitions were also before the tribunal with respect to the House of Representatives election and 37 for the state House of Assembly election.
