Delta APC devastated as PDP harvests 5,000 members

Ahead of the local government elections in Delta State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have harvested no fewer than 5,000 members of the All Progress Congress ( APC) who decamped to the party.
The event which took place Sunday at Oligbo Royal Palace in Issele Uku Community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta, was witnessed by the immediate past governor of the state, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa,and other chieftains of the party.
Speaking to journalists, the immediate past governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa urged Aniocha North PDP to be mindful of the forthcoming elections, saying that the number of votes received from Aniocha North was lower than other local government areas across the state in the last election.

According to him, there was need to improve and collectively fight for more votes in any election adding that he was happy for the return of the Chieftain, Fidel Onward and his supporters back to PDP, urging them to exercise patient with patient with PDP as the party is a good platform for distributing Democratic dividends to the people. He urged the people of Aniocha North scored only 10,000 votes which was lower than others areas.
Okowa said that Aniocha North people were benefitting more in government appointments and electoral positions, adding that the local government appointments and electoral positions, while more were expected from the area as the present government continued to favour the people and Commended the new decampees , hoping that next election would be better than the previous ones, while asking the people to ensure that they beat other local governments in the state
Earlier, Chief Fidel Onward, leader of the decampees, expressed joy as he was received by the local government PDP, saying that his return was synergize with the present administration and to support the MORE Agenda of the state governor. He promised to do his best in the service of the people of the local government area, calling on his supporters to cheer up with PDP and extend the love they had for him to the leaders of the party as nobody would be marginalized again.
