Defection: Former Ebonyi commissioner condemns Gov. Umahi’s utterances
The former Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, in Ebonyi state, Comrade Egwu Chima has condemned the abusive attitude of the state Governor, Engr. David Umahi against elders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
He however described the alleged boastful friendship governor David Umahi claims he has with President Muhammadu Buhari as a fiction not based on realities.
He noted that Umahi’s family and members of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) own and operate an account with a social media, where they cajole the activities of Mr. President.
Comrade Chima, told governor Umahi to learn from the likes of late Akanbi Onitiri, R.B.K Okafor who in second republic insulted and wished late Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe death but paid dearly for it.
He insisted that it is not in the culture and tradition of Igboman for younger ones to cajole, insult and abuse their elders, including wishing them death.
It could be recalled that Engr. David Umahi while addressing stakeholders from Ikwo and Izzi clans over inter-communal crisis which erupted recently, blamed his predecessor, Chief Martin Elechi for paying a deaf ear to the crisis which has claimed many lives and properties, worth millions of naira.
Daily Times authoritatively reportedly that many lives had been lost and properties worth millions of naira destroyed since a communal crisis erupted between the people of Ikwo and Izzi early this year.
“This crisis has been there and my predecessor in office who hails from lkwo could not do anything to settle it, for good eight years he stayed in office.
“I don’t know why God allows such wicked people to exist”, Umahi had said.
Comrade Chima, member of Board, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), who said he cannot bear this ugly treatment being meted against elders of the state, described the utterances of governor Umahi as vituperative.
He added that achievements of the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu; Chief Martin Elechi and Sen. Chris Nwankwo are so huge that the small leg of Umahi cannot enter.
He poured out his hard deep grievances Thursday at a press conference against the back-drop of some publications credited to governor Umahi, titled “Why I cannot join the APC, The leaders failed the People”, which was published in some national dailies.
His words: “My attention has been drawn to a media chat granted to the press by the governor of Ebonyi state, Engr. David Nweze during which he had tried to adduce the principal reasons why he would not join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to include among others the allegation of failed past-testimonials of its principal leaders in Ebonyi state.
“And those who think it is fashionable to cajole, insult and abuse elders including wishing them death, should please engage in necromancy and interview the souls of late Akanbi Onitiri, R.B.K Okafor of the defunct Nigerian Peoples’ Party (NPP) and late Chuba Okadigbo for the lessons they learnt from their determined journeys to diminish the stature of late Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe,” he said.
