DBIR identifies service delivery as key factor in public sector performance

The Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR) has identified commitment to services delivery as key factor in enhancing performance in the public sector.

Mr. Monday Onyeme, Executive Chairman of the Board told journalists Wednesday in Asaba while answering questions in the management of the State Internal Revenue Board, explained that in driving performance to a productive level, there was need to create an enabling environment for the private sector to blossom so that they can absolve the excess personnel in the public sector to give it a breathing space.

He said: “as public servants, we must be result-oriented and also imbibe the spirit of productivity and commitment in achieving an acceptable performance in our daily assignments”.

He examined various performance options and explained that for employees, organizations and institutions to create maximum value and stay relevant in line with global trends, attention which must be given to the quality of human resources, positing that performance must be pushed, pulled or lifted for it to make the desired impact.

Mr. Onyeme maintained that when those in service see that those that have left are accordingly catered for, they would be spurred into putting in their best, adding that performance driven public sector from the angle of motivation of the workers, especially those that are retired are enhanced.
