#DapchiGirls: Boko Haram Returns Kidnapped School Girls, Five Dead

Boko Haram on Wednesday morning returned all the recently abducted school girls in the town of Dapchi in Nigeria’s Yobe State.

One hundred and ten schoolgirls were abducted by the group in February this year in an attack similar to what occurred in 2014 in neighbouring Borno State.

Daily Times gathered that five of the girls may have died while in custody of the insurgents.

According to our source, Boko Haram militants returned the girls in nine vehicles, a similar fashion to how they were taken away.

We were also told the insurgents did not come with a single gun, they exchanged pleasantries with community leaders and left after dropping the girls off

However, the presidency has disclosed that 76 of the abducted school girls have been released. Bashir Ahmed, a presidential aide disclosed this on Twitter.

“So far, 76 of the 110 abducted Dapchi schoolgirls have been confirmed release and documented, the number of the freed girls would be updated after the remaining ones have been documented, especially because the girls were not handed over to anyone but dropped off in Dapchi,” he wrote.

On his part, Lai Mohammed, also claimed that 91 of the school girls have been released.
