Dalung tasks federation boards on self sustenance

Three days to the inauguration of various boards of the sports federations, Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung has charged the members of the various boards to embark on a wild search of membership for their federations.
Dalung who gave this task to the federations over the weekend in Abuja also said there is so much to make in sports and that government alone cannot administer sports successfully.
“What we believe is that there is so much for us to make in sports and that government alone cannot drag sports to s success. The private sector is a cardinal and key partner in sports development,” he said.
The minister maintained that the government has the sole responsibility to create enabling environment for sponsors and promised that the President Buhari administration will support and ensure that the so called autonomy is made perfect.
He further stated that the perfect autonomy would enable the federations go out to source for funds and sponsorship, organise their competitions while the government will support them with grants.
The minister also noted that the federations will also make their accounts public so that anybody who wants to put his money can do that and at any time he wants to look at the books, he will have the right to do that.
Claiming that President Muhammadu Bugari was a hockey player, Dalung assured the Nigeria Hockey Federation of leading them to the Presidential Villa to decorate and present kits to him as a member of the federation when he returns.
The various boards of sports federations would be inaugurated on Friday in Abuja.
