Daily Times Exit Polls Update: APC Leads in 176 Councils

As results of last weekend’s presidential and National Assembly elections continue to trickle in, the Daily Times exit polls of the 14 key states that will determine the winner indicate that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has leading in 176  out of 386 local government areas (LGAs).
Major General Muhammadu Buhari of the APC squared up against incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP.
While the total Permanent Voters Cards (PVs) distributed in the 14 states were 31,702, 253, the total turnout in the election was 7,529,174.
The APC scored 4,751,368 to the PDP’s 2,777,806. The margin between the two parties in the 176 councils is 1,973,562.
The key states include Rivers, Delta, Imo, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Abia and Cross River.
The rest are Kano, Lagos, Jigawa, Katsina, Kaduna, Bauchi and Kebbi.
The total voter turnout for the 176 local government councils already received from the key states in the south was 1,977,210 while those of the key seven states in the North is 7,529,174.
For instance, while the PDP votes in Rivers are put at 688,950, the APC had 36,071. In Delta, the PDP had 74,712 to the APC’s 3,394.
But the losses of the APC in the South were cancelled out hugely in the North. In Kano, for instance, the PDP had 215,779 votes to the APC’s 1,688,220. Also in  Katsina, the PDP had 104,662 to the APC’s 1,475, 914.
