Crele Animation studios releases soundtrack to short film ‘The Satchel’

Satchel

The Satchel, a 3D animated Short Film was released exclusively on YouTube in January by Creele Studios to good reviews & critical acclaim in the growing African Animation scene.

The short film has already scooped a number of awards including the Viewers Choice Award for Best International Animated Short Film at this year’s edition of the Cannes Independent International Film Festival (CIIFF).

One of the key components of ‘The Satchel’s appeal which drove home the origin story, was the music. It goes without saying that the music used in movies shapes emotional responses, creates a rhythm to scenes and segments, and comments on the action. Music is often crucial to the experience of a scene and, in some cases, becomes as iconic as the movies themselves for the viewers.

In this instance the soundtracks were absolutely spot on in a way similar to Celine Dion’s “My Heart will go on” depicted in the Titanic.

The three tracks from the movie, though all unique in their message & delivery, united to form a cohesive original sound that conveyed the traditional origin story of The Satchel using modern 3D technology. This masterful body of work was composed, written, and delivered by Nissi Ogulu with production by Kizz Ernie, T.U.C, and Prince Ekanim who all make up a part of Creele’s audio team.

The first track is titled “Adupe ” which as a word conveys being “Thankful or Grateful” in Yoruba. The song depicts humans’ gratitude to their Creator (Olodumare/God) for their existence & life (which had just been created) generally as it pertains to the short film. It is an upbeat song that’s primordially uplifting anytime it comes on. The soothing voice of a child delivered via the impressive voice acting skills and range of Nissi Ogulu, gives the song an extra sprightly charm.

Wonderful is a beautiful love song that depicts a forbidden love story between a god/supernatural being (Oduduwa) and his human/mortal lover (Dotun). This is a beautiful song for couples who go through their fair share of the rollercoaster ride that can sometimes be a relationship, however possess a bond that will stand the test of time. This song in its vocal and lyrical mastery carries a timeless message that will age like fine wine.

This comes just before Creele Animation Studios launches their highly anticipated NFTs for “The Satchel” on the AFEN platform and is just the beginning of a lot that the studio has in store for its fans and the world.
