The crave for Aso-Ebi

A piece of Nigerian clothing like Lace, Ankara sold by brides to be can be called Aso-ebi. It’s a fabric picked specially for the bride’s friends or Groom’s friends. It could also be for the friends of the family whose occasion people are attending. The use of this fabric is to identify whose party it is you’re going to or where you belong at the occasion.

The Aso-Ebi today has been transformed from the ordinary Iro and Buba which was always sewn back in the days and can be styled into different cuts, patterns and so on.

The Ankara is a popular name for a patterned, cotton fabric worn by Africans. This fabric is similar with the Traditional wear in Nigeria. The popular brands are: Da Viva, Vlisco, Ghana wax, woodin prints and so on. This fabric is often called the African cloth but was originated in Europe. There are different fabrics that makes the Ankara fabric stand out and look more Elegant. We have the chiffon, Lace materials, pearls, Embroidery and so on.

The Lace is the most common for Aso-Ebi. It has different grades and patterns. It is highly demanded by all tribes for weddings mostly. There’s the swiss lace, Voile lace, Cord lace, sequined lace and much more.

Aso-Ebi is a common trend now, with ladies sewing styles to turn heads and occasions. There’s just something so unique about Aso-Ebi that Nigerian women can get enough of. The Aso-Ebi is usually matched with different layers of Gele, accessories and glittery makeup. The trendy colours are silver, green, blue, orange, teal, and white and so on.

The Cape: This can be sewn with a different fabric and attached to the dress. It can be seen around the neck flowing all the way through the back line to the floor like a wedding dress or around the waist line. Anyhow you rock it, it’s a beautiful trend.

The Fabric Blend: The lace can be mixed with Ankara, it’s not necessarily satin or chiffon. However you mix, it brings your style to life.

Colourful buttons, brooches, pearls: These can be added to your Aso-Ebi for a more glittery and different look. It can be a classy move when it is done properly and neatly.

The Peplum: This is a style that rocks both the Aso-Ebi fabric and casual dresses. It’s also something cool to cover people with bulging stomachs.

The off-shoulder: The off-shoulder is a style that is in vogue. It shows the neck line and the chest area with a little or more cleavage. It fits people who have a little flesh better and can make do with or without accessories and you’ll still look good.
