COVID-19: VSF donates N100m worth of food, drugs to Taraba

The Victim Support Fund (VSF) on Friday donated food items, personal protective equipment and medical supplies worth N100 million to the Taraba state government to support the fight against coronavirus in the state.

The items are for onward distribution to the vulnerable, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and medical facilities in the state.
Mrs. Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, chairperson of the VSF COVID-19 emergency task force team, presented the items to the state government in Jalingo.
Akerele-Ogunsiji said that the palliatives would help cushion the effect of the partial lockdown imposed on the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We flagged off the distribution of these items in Abuja on Tuesday and from there we have moved to Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
“We are here to present that of Taraba state to the state government for onward distribution to the vulnerable and those in IDPs camps.
“The items, which include rice, beans, maize, garri, salt, vegetable oil and personal protective equipment like face masks, gloves, hand sanitisers among others, are worth N100 million.

“In addition to food, we are also giving out medicines, disinfectants and soaps for bathing and hand washing,” she said.
Receiving the items, the Secretary to the Stay Government, Mr. Anthony Jellason thanked the VSF for the support, especially in this trying time.
Jellason also assured the group that the items would be judiciously utilised and equally distributed to the vulnerable in the society.
