Kano State Fire Service has called on residents of the state to practice good personal and environmental hygiene to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
Saidu Muhammad, the Public Relations Officer of the Service, made the call in an interview with the newsmen on Wednesday in Kano.

Muhammad also enjoined residents to avoid abuse of electrical appliances and shun storage of fuel in their homes to avert fire outbreaks.
He said the service had adopted proactive measures to ensure that the state is free from fire incident during the pandemic.
“We should always keep our buckets filled with water in our homes or offices with either soap or hand sanitizer to protect ourselves from contracting the virus,” he said.
Meanwhile, Muhammad said Fire Service had saved 74 lives and properties worth N173 million in 106 fire incidents in the state in March.
The spokesman disclosed that five lives were lost and properties worth N89 million destroyed by fire within the period under review.
Muhammad added that the Service responded to 46 rescue calls and 29 false alarms within the period.
He attributed the fire incidents to careless handling of cooking gas, use of inferior electrical materials, use of boiling rings and improper wiring.
